EXPERIENTIAL EDUCATIONAL MUSEUM OF REELING MILLS AND SILK ART

MuLab was created from the desire to preserve and celebrate a tradition that profoundly shaped the history of Villa San Giovanni: the art of silk production.

The museum is housed within the historic Filanda Cogliandro, one of Calabria's finest silk mills, which was active from the late 19th century until 1951.

Following the architectural restoration of the Filanda, the idea emerged to create a place that would not only preserve the historical heritage of silk production but also bring it to life and make it accessible to everyone.

Today, MuLab is a museum-laboratory where the story of silk can be discovered, observed, and experienced through exhibition tours, educational activities, and immersive experiences.

A landmark of the industrial heritage that earned Villa San Giovanni the nickname "Little Manchester", the historic Filanda Cogliandro is now home to MuLab, a museum dedicated to preserving and sharing the rich legacy of silk production.

Through guided tours, exhibitions, educational activities, and hands-on workshops, MuLab offers visitors an engaging journey into the world of silk and the traditions that shaped the local community for generations.

Whether you are visiting with family, friends, or as part of a school group, MuLab invites you to discover an extraordinary story of craftsmanship, innovation, and cultural heritage through an immersive and memorable experience.
